In most states, as you navigate the iteach program, you will progress through 4 distinct phases: Applied, Accepted, Enrolled, and Residency. Please review the information below to understand what generally happens in each of these phases.
Applied
To enter this phase of the program you must submit your application by navigating to our website and clicking the "APPLY NOW" button in the top right corner. Once you have completed parts one and two of the application you will be set up with an account on the iteach online portal, often referred to as "InstuctNET". You should plan to log in to the iteach online portal regularly, at least once every few days, in case any updates are made to your account or pushed out via the announcements tab.
The "Applied" home page will have useful information for you explaining your next steps, and it will also include a checklist showing the date that your application was received.
In most states, you will be required to submit official undergraduate transcripts and complete an introductory course that orients you to the program.
If you ever get lost during the "Applied' phase of the program, you can refer to your account checklist which is on your iteach portal home page! After everything on the checklist is completed, your file will move into the evaluation period which typically takes 3-5 business days. Below is an example "Applied" checklist for reference.
Accepted
After the evaluation period, if qualified for admission, you will receive an email from our admissions team letting you know that you have been accepted to the program! At that time you can log in and complete the steps to move from "Accepted" to "Enrolled". These steps typically include paying your enrollment fee and acknowledging your Letter of Agreement. Be sure to read the Letter of Agreement carefully, as it lays out the terms of the program and clarifies both party's obligations to one another. In some states, you may also be asked to declare an area of intended certification during this phase.

After everything on the checklist is completed by you, your account will automatically progress to the "Enrolled" phase. Below is an example "Accepted" checklist for reference.
Enrolled
Once you have enrolled in the program you are now a part of the iteach family of educators! This is the phase of the program when you will start working through your pedagogical coursework, studying for upcoming exams, and completing any other program or state requirements that must be met before you can move into your residency, also called a "Field Experience".
Typically, the requirements in the "Enrolled" phase include setting up your payment plan, completing several online courses, and passing your state's designated content area certification exam. The goal of this phase is to obtain your Hiring Document, a verification form that demonstrates your eligibility for hire and, once returned to iteach, confirms your interest in moving on to the next phase of the program.

Residency
To initiate the residency, often also called the field experience, your school must submit a valid Hiring Document to be approved by the program. Once approved to begin, the field experience is the time in which you will be observed in the classroom to demonstrate your competency as an educator. During your two-semester residency or field experience, you may work with a Field Supervisor, Instructional Coach, Mentor, or a combination of all of these individuals. They are all there to support you as you hone your skills and master your craft!
By the end of the residency period, you should have all certification requirements completed. In most states, these requirements include completion of any remaining coursework, completion of the payment plan, and passing the pedagogical content exam.
