At iteach, we use a competency-based grading system that requires candidates to demonstrate mastery of course content through quizzes and assignments. Each course must be successfully completed before progressing to the next course.
Course Format
iteach courses are asynchronous, online, and self-paced, with no face-to-face meetings. They are designed to provide knowledge and skill assessment through a web-based learning platform with direct applications for classroom teaching.
Course Completion Components
In a given course, candidates will engage with the following course components:
- Auto-graded formative learning checks
- Instructor-graded assignments
- Auto-graded quizzes
- Unscored end-of-course survey (for feedback purposes)
Quizzes and Assignments
Quizzes
- Quizzes may include multiple-choice, multiple-answer, and matching questions.
- All quizzes are auto-graded, and scores are immediately available after submission.
- A minimum passing score is required to proceed to the next course.
Assignments
- Assignments require manual grading by an instructor.
- Each assignment has an associated rubric and minimum passing score, which will be posted in the course.
- Instructors provide comments and feedback aligned with the grading rubric.
- Please allow up to 4 business days for instructor grading, though it may be completed sooner.
- To view instructor comments and feedback, click on the clipboard and quotation icons in the grade book on the right side of the assignment row.
- Candidates are encouraged to carefully review instructor feedback to improve their work when assignments are not passed on the first attempt.
Retaking Quizzes and Assignments
- Two extra attempts on any quiz or assignment will automatically become available overnight after submission.
